An Open Forum meeting is where all meeting attendees are given both speaking and web presenter rights upon entering the meeting.

Features and Benefits

  • Great for smaller meetings - This format works well with smaller meetings by creating a more interactive environment.
  • Allows for all to be presenters - All attendees can share presentations and collaborate.
  • Less formal setting - This works well for events of a less formal nature. All attendees have active phone lines upon entering the meeting and can speak freely with other attendees or speakers.

A Lecture Style meeting is based on the concept that there are one or more speakers and the majority of the participants are listeners and not granted speaking ability. Meeting moderators in a lecture style meeting can enable the participants speaking ability all at once or one at a time.

Features and Benefits

  • Speakers are provided a private setting - All presenters enter into a main room at both the beginning and end of meeting. This allows the speakers and the moderator to discuss the meeting details, agenda, or wrap up after the meeting.
  • Managed Question and Answer Sessions - Listen only participants can “Request the floor” to ask question or address the meeting. Moderators or meeting host can selectively grant temporary speaking ability to those participants. However, the floor can also be opened to all participants if a more interactive session is desired.
  • Waiting Room for participants - The non-presenting attendees will be placed into a waiting room with music-on-hold when entering the meeting. The moderator or host will “Call the meeting to order” and bring all of the waiting room participants into the meeting.
  • Controlled Environment - In a Lecture Style meeting, only the designated presenters can use and operate the meeting functions - advancing slides, starting and stopping the recording, and all of the other keypad and web functions.
  • Less interruptions and audio disturbances - Because all of the non-presenting participants audio lines are muted, there is less of an opportunity for disruptions or disturbances (hold music, ringing phones, speaker phone feedback, poor cell phone signal, side conversations, etc.).
